Ambulatory Detox in Hunterdon County, NJ

Outpatient Detox at Our Hunterdon County Drug & Alcohol Rehab Center

If you or someone close to you is struggling with addiction, detoxification is one of the most important steps in your recovery process. The detox process helps you get physically stabilized by removing any remaining compounds from the substances you have abused and getting you through your initial withdrawal phase.

What is Withdrawal?

Withdrawal refers to the physical or psychological symptoms you experience during detox. When you regularly abuse drugs or alcohol, your body develops a physical dependence, which means it changes how it functions and becomes dependent on the chemicals in the drugs or alcohol to function normally.

As soon as you get rid of or reduce how much you use, you start to experience withdrawal symptoms because your body is experiencing changes to what has now become normal function.

Withdrawal symptoms can be mildly uncomfortable, like a fever, headache, or muscle pain, but they can also be severe and life-threatening, like tremors, hallucinations, and seizures.

What you experience differs based on the substances you have used and requires different treatments.

Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Insomnia
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Tremors
  • Confusion
  • Sweating
  • Seizures
  • Hallucinations
  • Delirium tremens

Opioid Withdrawal Symptoms

  • Muscle aches
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Excessive yawning
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Watery eyes
  • Depression

Benzodiazepine Withdrawals

  • Anxiety
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Hallucinations
  • Seizures
  • Tremors

Stimulant Withdrawal Symptoms

  • Depression
  • An inability to feel pleasure
  • Increased appetite
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Nightmares
  • Slowed thinking

Whatever your symptoms, Wellness Recovery can help reduce or alleviate the severity and frequency of those symptoms during detox. With our recovery center, you will have medical supervision the entire time you go through withdrawal, staff members who explain what you can anticipate during your withdrawal, and medical professionals who can prescribe over-the-counter medications or prescription medications.

A Custom Approach to Treatment

Outpatient Addiction Treatment in Hunterdon County, New Jersey

Once you complete your detox services, you can continue through the different Hunterdon County drug rehab levels. With Wellness Recovery, you can start a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), or traditional outpatient.

PHP

Partial hospitalization programs start with detox services. From there, you can continue your drug and alcohol rehab in Hunterdon County by meeting at the Wellness Recovery facility over the span of several weeks. This treatment is comparable to residential programs in many ways, including full-time participation in treatment and recovery. The key difference is you get to return home at the end of the day.

Six percent of people who sought Hunterdon County addiction treatment participated in partial hospitalization programs.

What to Expect from PHP

  • You can expect a full day of therapy sessions and activities every day of the week
  • You are responsible for attending your Hunterdon County drug rehab sessions on time
  • You get to return home at night
  • You can complete your rehab program in two or three weeks

These programs are best for people who want Hunterdon County addiction treatment and can step away from work, school, or other responsibilities for several weeks at a time.

IOP

Intensive outpatient programs are similar to partial hospitalization programs, but they last a little longer and don't meet as many hours per day. With a partial hospitalization program, you will likely meet every day of the week, but with an intensive outpatient program, you might only meet three days per week. However, you still get to return home at the end of the day.

Twenty-six percent of people who participated in drug and alcohol rehab in Hunterdon County started an intensive outpatient program.

What to Expect from IOP

  • You can expect a partial day of therapy sessions and activities a few days per week
  • You can expect to develop coping skills and strategies for dealing with triggers and stress
  • You can participate in a range of individual and group therapy sessions encouraging you to build a network of supportive, sober individuals and lay the foundation for ongoing community involvement
Traditional Outpatient

Traditional outpatient care has the lowest participation requirements, often meeting for a few hours each week rather than several hours each day. This step-down level of care is designed to help you transition from your time at a Hunterdon County drug and alcohol rehab center back to regular life.

In the last year, twenty-five percent of people undergoing treatment at a Hunterdon County drug and alcohol rehab center participated in traditional outpatient programs.

What to Expect from Traditional Outpatient

  • The goals of outpatient treatment will look different for everyone but generally involve encouraging engagement and participation in recovery services
  • You might only meet a few hours per week
  • You will participate in many group sessions or community-based support groups
